Dolled up corkboard.

O.K., I am getting crafty in my ole ripe age of 34! Maybe I have to be crafty b/c I'm trying so hard to be thrifty. I see things I like and I can't afford it so why not figure out how to make it! Right?

So, I'm always looking for ways to stay organized and on top of the kids various activities. I want things to be functional but also cute.

I bought this regular ole cork board at IKEA for like $4. Then I decided to paint the trim around it a funky green.

I found this darling fabric at Hobby Lobby and just stapled it onto the cork board.
I would recommend a crafting stapler and not a desk stapler like I used. Let me just say I was getting a little frustrated with the bending of my staples.
Anyways, I also found little jewels in the scrapbooking section and hot glued them on plain gold tacks I already had at home. They just look much cuter.
So this whole project cost me about $7.oo.
Now I feel cutely organized! Is that such a thing?

I LOVE it- you have inspired me- I have an old corkboard in the closet. I am going to pull it out and find some fabric for it.

So adorable! I painted a cork board for my oldest, but never thought of putting fabric on the back! Perhaps I will have to steal your idea for my other kids' bulletin boards..... :-)
